This is why we need some kind of law, or Constitutional Amendment to clarify and secure the NBC clause. It might have to be done at the State level, which has been suggested by FRthinkers here, far smarter than I. Because, it could be gradual. Not all of the states would have to sign on to the clarification, or procedure. Just a few states could rule the others because if (let’s just say) Texas. South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Nebraska would not allow a candidate who had not provided proper ID onto the ballot, that candidate surely could not get enough electoral votes from the remaining states to win.
