Maybe some of her friends in Seattle were also dabbling in Communism at that time, which might explain the vagueness in their recollections, mixing up dates, etc. Just seems kinda weird to me.

But, it has occurred to me to wonder if there is not in fact some overriding controlling interest in charge of these events.
I tend to doubt that the prospect that he would become President of the US was in view at the time of his birth. I suggested somewhere else here that if I had been running this on day 1, he could have had a bulletproof original Hawaii birth document on file and no one would have known--it could have been done if mother and grandmother had the quality of legal help in place then that Obama does now. (Although when you say that, what I think they did that fell short smells a little like a deal where somebody like one of the suggested alternate fathers might have tried and been a short hitter financially at that point.)
But at some very early point in his career, long before Columbia; maybe before Occidental; someone or organization with significant swat was paying the bills and running the show.
The KGB? I'm not real sure who is on which side any more. I think his money and on site power all came from Saudi Arabia. But other than illegal campaign contributions, exactly how and why it got there is not on the record. And any of the controlling parties you suggest, KGB, CIA, or whatever has the capacity to move the chips around the table.
I am convinced that his features, ears, and build come primarily from his material grandfather--he's the picture of old Stanley. Conceived in October, 1963, there isn't any evidence of any other putative black father. But, the one thing that makes you think an alternate father is a possibility is that there has been some invisible hand moving the pieces in his life for some time.
Wouldn't affect the born in Kenya story; wouldn't make the kid born in Kenya any more likely to be a natural born citizen under the Constitution. So I guess I don't care in the context of the current legal setting.
The alternate father is just a variation of the tinfoil hat suggestion. Some entity for which Obama could do no wrong is paying the bills to put him in the place they want him. Anything is possible but this is a fairly long reach.
