You make an interesting point. However, I am completely at a loss as to why you would think she would have to do that? Why couldn’t she simply get a COLB from Hawaiian Health officials?

Well, assuming that the most bizarre of circumstances existed (and at this point, based on what we do know about Obama’s past, I would not rule anything out), the “vital records” provided by Anne Dunham may not have been sufficient to establish paternity. For example, a Hawaiian COLB based either on a foreign birth “registered” in Hawaii or an “affidavit” may not have sufficed for a judge presiding over the divorce proceedings.
