I used Selectrics in high school typing class.
[we all thought the interchangeable balls were a blast]

Because they were electric and the ribbon ink had advanced dramatically, every keystroke hit with the same force and uniformity.

Everything you typed looked like everything else you typed; uniformly crisp, dark and bland...:)
