The idea has been kicked around in the blogosphere for months.So, was the idea of his being born in Coast General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya always based on someone claiming to have seen the birth certificate we are looking at now, or was there some other basis for the claim such that the BC under discussion would be supporting evidence for that claim, assuming it is valid?

For my part, what I read was rumor. I saw no documents being referenced.
There have been rumors because he has family in Kenya. He interfered in an election there as a Senator. The interference was on behalf of someone who claims to be Obamas cousin. There have been whispers for sometime. Birthplace didn’t matter as a Senator. The bar is higher for a US President.
