Personally, I like the HK USP Compact — reasonably concealable, accurate, good stopping power. Its a little pricey. The Walther PPK is a bit smaller and less expensive, but also has good stopping power.
And — in looking for a picture to post, I found out that the HK USP Compact is apparently Jack Bauer’s sidearm of choice. Ha! Can’t go wrong there.

Call your local gun store and ask if they have a S'W pro model 45. It is S/W's latest 45 auto. Mini designed for concealed carry, short barrel in 45 Cal. One great pistol but be sure you really really want a 45 cal, as compared to a 9MM Browning High Power. Both out standing pistols. Viva Las Vegas.
