I don’t believe flying objects with aviation lights on them are aliens. It just makes no logical sense that they wouldn’t have night vision or some equivalent. If they wanted to screw with us, they would fly up to some building during the daytime and let some sane person take a clear picture of their craft. Now that would be a good prank.
