Various forums discussing the pros and cons of the different brands. It seems they all have preferences, and I bet some do here as well, but at least if you say "Colt is best, and here's why..." I can ask questions later on FR.

I am trying to decide on a quality AR-10 type home defense, recreational shooting weapon. I have shot the military M-4 and loved it, but feel a little more reach would be nice.
What I'm asking is for Freeper's personal experience or opinions based on fact regarding why one brand beats the other. Or anecdotal evidence of one being better than the other because "Jimmy had one for years, and he always hit tight groups...".
Quality is more important than price to me, and for some weird personal preference I don't like the green hardware variants, but who knows?

I owned an AR-10A4. Huge POS. Mag problems. Gas problems. Multiple trips back to the manufacturer. Avoid Aramalite like the plague it is.

The best AR-10, is the FN-FAL version.
I believe they call it the FN-FAL, though.

Home defense?
A good old fashioned RUGER RED LABEL 12guage.
it's all you'll ever, ever need.

Well, shotgun too, but since firing the M-4 and M-16 in training and lugging one around for a while, I liked it.
Remember, I've got the ACOG to slap on top, with the Doctor for close range. LOL Okay, home defense and "plinking".

Dude I would be careful of using an AR-10 for home defense unless you live on a few acres. Bushmaster makes good stuff.
I would check out in DSA rifles. They have STG58 FAL and FAL .308 or 7.62 style rifles. Really nice stuff.

Shotgun too, but loved the look and feel of the .223, just felt the .308 would be better. Home defense is probably a bad reference reason for purchase. Call it a need for the ability to defend the place from a distance. AND plinking.

See, this is what I needed. It seemed like Armalite was preferred (overall) on those links I threw up. Bad ammo? Or, no kidding POS and requiring rework no matter what?

I have a Armalite AR-10T and I love it; not one problem.
To: mylife
LMAO...well an acre, but the front door is like 50 feet from the street. Wide open on the other side though, so no problem hitting something inadvertently.
