Actually transmission and distribution lines are made of aluminum, but you point is still valid.

Spread out as they would have to be, the cost of building all that transmission would be staggering. I don't know what the heck this guy is thinking.

Yes, I agree. Pickens is a fraud, a populist with BIG money tied up in the wind energy scam, and he is trying to pull the wool over everyones eyes with his “down home” scatology.

Somebody ought to explain to the masses the reality of “energy density”... how much ‘bang’ you get per square acre of land used. A 20 MW coal-fired plant requires 2 acres of land... That same energy output would require 20 times as much for a wind farm, because windmills must be placed so they do not interfere with each others flow dynamics.

Then you must figure the capital costs for these machines vs their predicted lifespan, and the “carbon footprint” generated for all the manufacturing processes involved to create these machines... they do not simply “poof” out from thin air. Think about the massive concrete foundations required, and all the reinforcing steel, and all the access roads that will need to be built, etc. Then there are peak-load, phasing and duty-cycle problems, as well as getting the wind to cooperate with just the right amount of force when its needed. Nature is never that accommodating. Stuff like this is never cheap as the dreamers think... and they never tell the public about all these “inconvenient” details.

People are such simpleton suckers these days. They will buy into any fad that sounds good. There is always a Pickens character waiting in the wings to fleece the unlearned.

No soap with me, too many years in the tech and engineering fields to buy into this Utopian nonsense.

T Boone Pickens is an idiot who wants to make a lot of money on stupid ideas. The future is nuclear, not hundreds of thousands of windmills.

He’d be Obama’s Perot.

Working in the power industry, we know what fallacy it is to even consider trying to use wind for base load generation.

Wind has it's place, displacement generation, NOT base load.

Voltage control would be impossible with the wild variations in power produced.

Maybe we could just get some big old batteries and capacitors, theres another 20 acres.

I agree. It's hard to believe that Biden said publicly Hillary would make a better VP than he would without there being something behind that statement. Hillary is still popular with many women and those women aren't being swayed to vote Obama, hence Hitlary would help eliminate the boost Sarah Palin has given McCain by bringing back those votes. In other words, to nominate Hildabeast would be fighting fire with fire for Obama. If Obama could get past his humungous ego and his disdain of being overshadowed by a larger political figure than himself, Shrillary would have made a great vp candidate for the dims, imo. But what a bogus thought, to have Obama and a Clinton occupying the WH at the same time. You'd have the worst political criminals and scoundrals in history working together to ruin our nation.

I *thought* T. Boone said he would NOT vote for a Democrat.
From what I know of T. Boone, he wouldn’t.

Maybe Obama thinks this is the only way he'll get T. Boone's vote. He's desperate to get every vote he can get at this point :-)

T. Boone Boondoggle Pickens. You may hate his wind energy idea, but you gotta love that name.

There. Fixed it for ya.

“If T-Bone brought his windmills, the wind coming from Camp Obammie would be 20 times what it already is.”

Agreed. He can just set up that windmill farm right in front of Obama’s face.

it IS an awesome name though. T. Boone Pickens. Good name for an oil man, for sure. There’s a guy running for my local county commissioner named Fulton Brock. It’d be a better name for “Secretary of Face Breaking”.

Hilary’s not just popular. There are large groups of organized women (organized groups of large women?), former Hilary supporters, who absolutely refuse to vote Obama because of what he did to her.

People forget that these politicians with plans to “fix” our problems have invested their own money in their “solutions”...such as Al Gore has invested in companies supposed to “fix” the “man-made global warming crisis”. Hmmm....sounds a lil funny to me.

A simple answer comes to mind: less government since government is the problem...
