Only months after a new state law effectively banned "mom" and "dad" from California schools, a total of 600,000 students could follow because of what has been described as the "repudiation" of 2,000 years of Christian morality, according to leaders of a new campaign assembling education alternatives.
The campaign is called California Exodus, and is being headed by Ron Gleason, pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Yorba Linda, who said while the country excels in social, economic, scientific and political accomplishments, it "gets low grades on the education of its children."
The issue is the state legislature's adoption of Senate Bill 777, which requires only positive portrayals of homosexual, bisexual, transgender and other alternative lifestyle choices.
"First, the law allowed public schools to voluntarily promote homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality. Then, the law required public schools to accept homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual teachers as role models for impressionable children. Now, the law has been changed to effectively require the positive portrayal of homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality to six million children in California government-controlled schools," said Randy Thomasson, chief of the Campaign for Children and Families and one of those who originally called for an abandonment of public schools.
"To rescue their children, loving parents need to find an alternative to government schools, and every church needs to make it a priority to help parents be in charge of their children's education again," he said.
He has condemned public school districts as "no longer a safe emotional environment for children" under the new law, signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, that will introduce children as young as kindergarten to the homosexuality and other alternative lifestyle choices.

The sentence is not the most lengthy, but it is complete.
I’m glad you are managing well there! Among state homeschool laws PA is considered among the worst by the Homeschool Legal Defense Association: http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp
Yes, but the sentence is extremely unclear.
The pronoun “It” is a poorly chosen subject. But more important, there is no object. “It” reflects badly of who or what?
No amount of “good will” can make Planned Parenthood less evil. Until the NEA/government system stops preaching free love and abortion, those who support that evil need to be reminded of the million babies a year that support helps murder. Working for a system that encourages evil is the active support for evil. Sorry if that is too blunt, but there it is.
This sentence should read, "but more importantly."
Uncle?
FWIW, I wouldn't teach in California or NY.
I don't know either. Seems to me it would be a very difficult study to do rigorously and scientifically.
I do recall that when one of my siblings was a troubled teenager, my mother said she kept telling herself, "The Bible says 'Raise up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart,' but it doesn't say he won't take some detours between the time he's young and the time he's old."
What really amazed me was a segment I heard on NPR yesterday afternoon saying that most people did not understand Mike Huckabee's Biblical references, such as to the stories of David and Goliath, the loaves and fishes, and the widow's mite.
It does seem that fewer and fewer children go to Sunday school, though...this year I asked my students if they had ever heard of Noah and the Ark, and maybe 1/3 to 1/2 seemed to recognize the story...
What is the sex ed curriculum like? What is the rate of teen-pregnancy, teen abortion and tesen STD’s?
I do not know the stats of the other questions. I suppose anyone can look those up on the web. I can see if those stats are available for my county and freep mail you with them.

I see...so...is it your intention, then, to barage any and all discussions that involve Public Eduction with your opinion that we who work in, or send our children to, public school are evil?
Will you do so without regard to the topic being discussed?
Are you saying that you would then feel it was your "duty" per se to "remind me" and other "evil workers" of the evil that we are doing?
Just being clear...
LOL, go ahead tell me more about what I will do.
I have taught for 10 years in the same county. I have never been told/asked/commanded to teach anything that violated my Christian beliefs. In addition, I did not earn my teaching credentials in a liberal school, but at Bob Jones University in South Carolina.

RICHMOND, Nov. 12 — Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine has cut off state funding for abstinence-only sex education programs, citing recent studies finding that teenagers should also be taught about birth control and condoms to protect against pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
Kaine (D) submitted plans last month to close a budget shortfall in part by eliminating a $275,000 matching grant for a federal program that provided funds for 14 nonprofit groups that taught abstinence only.
....
Planned Parenthood of Virginia, which had lobbied for the change in policy, sent out a statement Monday praising Kaine for joining its nationwide campaign to eliminate abstinence-only programs, which urge youths to refrain from sex until marriage.
“There is no evidence that abstinence-only programs equip teens with the education they need to delay sexual activity or prevent unintended pregnancies or the spread of sexually transmitted disease,” said Becky Reid, an organizer for Planned Parenthood Health Systems.
Our county follows the old curriculum. I cannot account for the rest of the state.
Watch. Maybe learn.
If I did any of those acts, I would be an incompetent teacher. I was hired to teach reading, not to be the censor or religious studies teacher. My classroom is my domain and I am responsible for everything that goes on within it.
I asked a question. (several actually)
You did not answer it.
You still haven’t.
Your last post is nothing but arrogance.
Good day...I will now add you the ignore list.
I understand. Nonetheless, if the enterprise itself is evil, helping it is also, regardless of how benign your part is. If you have the Faith, why teach where you cannot teach the Faith? Where beliefs that are antognistic to your Faith are taught while your Faith must be silent?
Yawn. You asked loaded and perjorativbe questions and tried to put words in my mouth. Sorry, you want to play that game, you get the answers you got from me.
