What happened to the clothes the man wore into the hospital? Did he drag himself into the hospital naked? This sounds like a set up to me. Someone dropped the man at the hospital or called an ambulance, where are they?
Probably transported by medics, who though he needed medical attention. He likely had parasites or “bugs” as we call them, and the clothing was probably destroyed. I spend a good deal of time working with people like him. It is very sad, and there are some charities that take them in and try to find places for them, but not nearly enough.
If he was a paraplegic, he most likely doesn’t have any bowel and bladder control. There aren’t many places that take patients requiring that level of care. We try to do what we can, but there isn’t nearly enough time or resources to help them all. The hospital should have had a discharge plan, or turned him over to a social worker for placement. They didn’t and it is probably going to cost them a lot of money.
This is a big gap in the medical/social services system in our country. There are many people who are not physically or mentally capable of looking after themselves. They end up on the street. It is truly inexcuseable.
