Merry Christmas, General! We had a very nice time, with moderate amounts of food (ham and potatoes, asparagus) and champagne to celebrate my husband’s reaching his running mileage goal for the year.
Today I ordered a new washer and dryer!
UNlike most here, i don't "talk behind your back". i'll say what i believe to you (and i have) as that is HONEST, if not tactful, thing to do.
swattie, why are you talking about me behind my back again?
Don't you know that's not right?
BTW, swattie, Huckabee says you're making the whole school look like morons.
He wants you to straighten up and fly right.
ours was "mixed" due to constantly being going to/being at/returning from the hospital & a nursing home.
nonetheless, it was nice to see Mother, my kid sister & her 2 kids.

Huck is worried about you being the idiot of his village and giving people the wrong idea about OBC. He wants you to keep it zipped until after the election.
it's a PITY that you evidently either don't know and/or don't care that you are thought by most all the "denizens of the WBTS threads" to be the "dumbest of the DUMB-bunnies" on FR.
otoh, at least you confine your SILLY/ignorant/point-LESS scribblings to using "other than vulgar/obscene words".

He's got into enough trouble already.
Unfortunately, the Christmas truce seems to be over... LOL!
"Charge them both ways!" -- Nathan Bedford Forrest, during the heat of battle at Parker's Crossroads as a staff officer raced up to inform Forrest that the enemy were attacking from two different directions.
If Lee had had Forrest, Stuart and Jackson at Gettysburg.............
These threads bring out some often heated North vs South debates but I think we can put it all aside on that thread to pay tribute to him and condolences to his family. Here is the thread

I am not a student of the war out west. I would consider myself a student of the Army of Northern Virginia. But, I have been doing some research about Grant's Vicksburg campaign via the Internet, since I do not have access to any books about it.
So, I wanted to check some facts, and what better place to do it than with some of my favorite FReepers.
I just need to make sure that I have all the armies in the right places.
Grant crosses the Mississippi and from May 2 to 11 marches north east, protecting his left flank on the Big Black River. He was 17,000 troops with him from the XIII and part of the XVIII Corps.
Rosencrans and the Union Army of the Tennessee is in Murfreesboro.
Bragg and the Confederate Army of Tennessee is in Tullahoma.
Pemberton's Army is spread out all over Mississippi trying to stop Grant's approach.
Johnston is on his way to Jackson, Mississippi to take command of an army being raised to come to the support of Vicksburg.
Forrest is in the middle of Tennessee conducting raids. Does anyone know specifically?
Where is John Morgan Hunt?
Both Grant and Rosencrans are between Pemberton and Bragg.
Thanks for your help.
I can't wait to get back to the States and have access to books...
Forrest never had a Robert E. Lee to appreciate and exploit his talents as Lee did with Jeb Stuart.
If Lee had had Forrest, Stuart and Jackson at Gettysburg.............
The South would have lost the war much faster, due to the complete and total occupation of every CSA state west of the Alleghenies.
Same problem you have, on a smaller scale. My ‘books’ are all at home, and I’m at work. I’ll look into your questions and reply Monday.
I disagree with that.
Had Lee's invasion of the north been successful disHonest Abe would have pulled troops out of the west to try to repel the South. (Actually, Newt Gingrich exploits this very theory in the third of his WBTS books, Grant Comes East.)
Also, Gettysburg was not a rout by the north. Had Stuart been there from the beginning, Lee would have been able to complete his mission, which was to push to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, or even Philadelphia, to influence northern politicians to give up their prosecution of the war.
That’s great. Thanks.
