To: Reagan Man
Reagan was much less conservative as a governor than he was as a president.

The country as a whole was (and is) more conservative than California. It was a natural shift for Reagan to move hard to the right when he moved up to the presidency.

Romney has a similar opportunity.

Of course, Reagan proved his stripes over two decades, not two months. Didn't have nearly as far to move as Romney, either.

Well, I don't call myself Reagan Man because of Reagan's eight years as Governor. With Reagan, it was a progression, personal growth. From FDR New Deal liberal Democrat in the 1930`s, to moderate-conservative Democrat for Eisenhower in 1952, to conservative Republican supporting Barry Goldwater in 1964, to staunch conservative Republican as POTUS in the 1980`s.

Romney has a lot of convincing to do.
