That's the point *I* was making, thank you.

In 06, the Congress pandered to the Social Cs -- who still turned out in numbers to vote for Rs. But they abandoned the CwA conservatives -- and lost their majority.

Now, you folks are pulling the party even *further* away from the CwA.

Your list is dominated by Gays and Abortion. Not one mention anywhere of a CwA issue.

The 'gun' issue does have legs, and Rudy will have to make it clear he won't grab guns to get elected. Which, I'm pretty certain, he will do.

But you're ignoring the other part of the point. Betraying the base on other issues. Social issues, to some extent. But illegal immigration and other issues too. Betraying the base will have those results. The nomination of Giuliani will not be received well by the party base. Some of the base won't vote for him in the General. His views are that offensive.
