And, although it's subject for a different thread, as Lincoln helped advance the US goverment's atrocities upon the Indian, many tout "Honest Abe" as the black man's "rescuer", forgetting his helping enslave and murder a race of a different color.

Well, he didn't do it alone, now, did he?
As an Army of Northern Virginia historian, I have to say I admire Lincoln's dogged determination to see the war to an end and to match is war policies to the reality on the ground and despite the tremendous political opposition he faced.
