What was their excuse in 2006? The GOP lost seats in 2006 because the Independents and Moderates were sick of the GOP and voted Democrat. Rudy can bring those voters back to the Republican side.That really killed us in Ohio last year. We had a VERY conservative candidate for Governor and he got creamed by over 20%. The idea that just running a very conservative candidate will mean victory is hopelessly naive.

I don't think you can blame Blackwell's loss on conservatism. He got creamed because of Bob Taft and Bob Taft alone. No Republican was going to undo that damage.
