For a party to win the election - two things have to happen. The base has to come out in force and the middle has to be convinced to vote for your guy. That is why, after securing the base, candidates usually run to the middle.
If a candidate can't secure the entire base (and not a few percent of it), he will not win. But if he cannot attract the squishy middle, he will not win even if he has the whole base.
It's a sticky wicket that makes me glad I'm not running for President.
I am confident that Rudy will get at least 2/3 of the base if not most of it. He will easily get the INDY'S and the middle, even take whats left of 'conservative - pragmatic' Democrats too.
A lot of DEM'S can not be to happy with the DIM's leftest leadership right now.
