Rudy Giuliani Throws Hat Into 2008 Presidential Ring
Post Chronicle ^ | 2/1/07

Posted on 02/01/2007 5:41:39 AM PST by areafiftyone

According to a source close to The Giuliani campaign, Rudy Giuliani is throwing his hat into the ring.  The Hinzsight Report confirms, through a source close to the Giuliani campaign, that he is presently sending people out into all 50 states to secure his name on the primary ballots.

"Despite Mayor Giuliani's public cautiousness, this is evidence that he is seriously pursuing the Presidency in 2008, and he should be taken very seriously.

Critical state polls have shown Mayor Giuliani leading the pack, and it's about time that he start being considered what he is--the front-runner" a source tells The Hinzsight Report.

Giuliani has lined up nearly 300 key Republican supporters in New Jersey for his bid for the 2008 presidential nomination, his campaign announced this week.

In a recent Quinnipiac University poll of New Jersey voters, it showed Giuliani leading all Republican presidential candidates and ahead of Sen. Hillary Clinton, the leading Democratic contender, in a head-to-head matchup.

The New Jersey primary, which is currently set for Feb. 26, is likely to move up to Feb. 5, placing it early in the campaign season and increasing its significance.  As many as 15 states could hold their Republican presidential primaries Feb. 5, reports Gannett.

He was the perfect age to serve. He wasn't even 30 yet when the U.S. withdrew in 1973. You may be on to something. I haven't heard how he avoided service in Vietnam either nor whether he supported or opposed the war at that time. Hmmmm....

Oh, man, you must be licking your lips; a gold mine, huh? Maybe you can find something else to contort and twist and try to trash him with it.

You're obviously very old or very dumb; he obviously graduated from high school in 1962 and went to college.

The draft AND Vietnam was factored in to the ones that age. And it was LEGAL to go to college and law school to get a deferment then.

Not that any of that will matter to you.

He was attending NYU School of Law to become a lawyer at the time.

And later became a prosocuter who at personal risk helped take down the NY mob saving hundreds perhaps and indirectly thousands....lives ruined through drugs,,,loan sharking... thousands of lives.

I could buy into that. Getting said firearms through the airport and onto the plane past the TSA oxygen thieves might be a bit problematic. Maybe go in on a promo deal with Springfield Armory for a bulk batch of XD's in .45 ACP with the airlines logo/colors on it. Load 'em with frangible or sinter-fire bullets, and you wouldn't even have to worry about damaging your aircraft.

Saddam Hussein's Army couldn't stop the US Government, but you are going to stop it with whatever guns you have? I had no idea you were so -- formidable.

There are a lot moree of us than there were them. Also, in the tragic event that the original intent of the 2nd Amendment was necessitated, most American troops would be with us, not against us.

Rudy at 34, McCain next, and Newt at 12 (with high negatives)

And liberals everywhere who support abortionism, homosexualism, judicial activism, gun confiscationism, big govermentism, illegal alien rewardism and all such liberal "-isms" are cheering your news.

Even if you think Rudy is your candidate, you do not need to "dog" Duncan Hunter. He is an honorable man running for the most thankless job in the world.

That kind of talk is shocking to me on FR; I've actually been told men who didn't serve were traitors. I wonder if that's the line they will be using on Rudy.

Actually Abraham Lincoln served in the Black Hawk Wars and would fall back on his experiences (he led a company) when needing to give McClellan a little push up the peninsula.

We have a difference of opinion. IMO, welfare, crime and child support, along with the adoption issue are social issues.

I'd say that it's a legitimate function of the federal govt to watch how it's money is spent, hence reforming a welfare system is a political issue.

Child support laws, adoption laws, etc. All legitimate functions of the federal govt, in my opinion.

Sanctioning Gays is *not* a legitimate function of the federal govt. I also think abortion should be a state's issue. I'm a fan of the 'component architecture' of the Constitution -- leaving most things to the states.

Anyway -- if the CWA was the difference maker, then is abandoning it and going with social issues first likely to be a wise choice?

Exactly.

A link to somewhere stating Rudy avoided serving in the military.

Just to clarify, I wasn't trying to imply that Rudy is a draft-dodger or anything, just that he chose not to serve in the military.

We use a politician's record to "predict" their suitability to a particular office in order that the candidate may help the party, the governed meet a particular objective (and most oft, 'tis done with fairly good accuracy).

If you want uncontested gun control in the US (of course in the name of fighting terrorism), Rudy's your man; if you want uncontrolled illegal entries into the US and taxpayer subsidies to get them on their feet, Rudy's your man; if you want federally subsidized abortion on demand irrespective of term, Rudy's your guy; if you want same-sex partnerships included within the marriage context and placed on an equal footing as the union of a man and woman, Rudy's your guy. Those issues were okay for NY because the New Yorker constituency embraced them. (I will refrain from labeling them "values") This is NATIONAL POLITICS of which we're deciding now.

If the Republican Party is so "progressive" it wishes to move away from its well known position of opposing those issues stated above, the Republican Party will lose Conservatives hands down and will deserve to fall on its arse. Those are NOT the publicly advertised objectives of the Republican Party and when they are embraced by the GOP, there will be a giant sucking sound coming out of national headquarters as Conservative voters leave. Those who'll push the party in that direction are guilty of perpetuating a perception of instability and indecisiveness within the GOP.

Granted, Rudy's record in NYC is nice - but that is a city - not a nation and not everyone is enamored with how New York operates and don't care to see Rudy's "style" of governing NY spread over the rest of the US. What he did for NY was befitting of NY. It should be left at that.

I will not supine to vote for Rudy. Period.

He said Rudy was the most charismatic speaker he's heard since Bill Clinton. He got to the crowd, really connected with them when talking about his experiences.

Rudy for President of Toastmasters - 2008.

By the way, you help make the point that if we're using public speaking as a qualification for who we support for President, especially given the egregious opposition Giuliani has with issues important to Republicans, then we might as well vote for someone like Bill Clinton.

"Most of Clinton's policies are very similar to most of mine." - Rudy Giuliani

Gratsi... ;-)

Here's another article where gun grabber/haters need a reality check. Gun Control laws don't work. Should have been filed under the "Theory of Duh", but somehow politicians only see the increase in personal power side of the equation.

Such folks shouldn't be elected dog catcher much less POTUS.
