okay not all. my local paper doesnt suck and i do like the crosswords and sodukos:)
but i still think the AP and most newspapers have a very left slant and liberal agenda. i wont buy them (even if they have good puzzles)!
well no i dont know how much you post, but ive seen your name alot. myself, i havent posted much over the years, mostly lurked and learned. lately i have been since i got on hubbies rotating schedule and cant sleep at night.
i just want to have some fun debate at times, but mostly it seems it turns nasty. really differing opinions. but thats what makes it so great as well.
Note that it never was posted on here or at least I cannot find it.
I saw that piece earlier onyx, but thanks...I didn't know it had been written by K-Lo of National Review.
I think I would reconfigure as this is the 2nd thread moved to Smokey Backroom. This keeps up and we can rename it the Rudy Backroom! Have to have a sense of humor these days! :)
It's going to be interesting if in late summer of '08, FR has to consign all threads about the Republican nominee for President, and odds-on favorite to win the election, into the backroom.
Let me make a few observations here. First, it's very, very early. Second, McCain is building a formidable backing and has yet to do any campaigning. Third, most historical indicators point to a McCain nomination. Fourth, likely once McCain gets started Giuliani's now-growing poll numbers will suddenly not be big enough to overcome the hit that he will take when McCain assumes the role of Common Sense Conservative and he hands Giuliani the role of Liberal Mayor of New York City. Notice also that McCain is moving against Romney first (VP Romney?). He would not let Giuliani sit if he felt he couldn't deal with him at a later stage. At this very, very early stage this is how I see it playing out.
Hard to figure that a thread that has generated over 800 comments and drawn over 6300 hits would be considered worthy only of the "back room."
You may be right about that. At this point, this may all be much ado about nothing. We'll see how it plays out.
Unlike you, I think Mitt has his pluses, but one can't ignore what comes out of his own mouth, as one is apprised of same, and trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear with such words, is beyond my pay grade, assuming Mitt was paying me, which he is not.
How is Hunter supposed to get the money? The same way that every other person does it...legally. You go after the guys who have a LOT of money and who have friends who have a LOT of money and you make your case. Hopefully, you already know these people and they know you. If that is not the case, then you try to sell yourself and your positions to people who have the money and connections.
But, wait a minute, didn't you tell me that you KNOW how all of this works?
If every single person on FR sent Hunter 10-100 dollars, he would still be far behind in in dire straights. And THAT isn't going to happen!
I truly was going into this election with a wait and see attitude and then all of the trash began, with posters posting utter tripe and specious garbages about Rudy and Romney, last fall. I posted FACTS, to refute the junk. Now, I am being called vile names and worse.
I post the simple facts of what it takes to get a campaign up and running and a person ready for the primaries and get excoriated and insulted and called more names.
I have looked at all of the Hunter stuff. I watched him on T.V., TWICE last week. Unlike those who do nothing but spam and insult, I actually went looking for UNVARNISHED facts.
Do choose whomever you want to, now, but keep an open mind and don't dismiss reality.
That's what it looks like.
I love the way you think!
I lurked for almost a year, before I joined FR in '98. The post count began in 2000 and if I told you what my count was, you'd fall over in a faint. LOL
Primary and election cycle years are rough on FR and if you expect "fun" here, now, you better go hang out on the chat threads because the political ones will NOT be "fun"!
I don't remember seeing it posted; but then, I have been having a bit of trouble. ;^)
im not closed minded, or not understanding of the process. like i said im going with my values and who best represents those, that is all.
duncan might suprise us all and take off like a rocket. its hard to say, too early to tell.
if he doesnt make it, he doesnt make it, but i want to make the best effort i can (funds, support, volunteering etc).
in my view rudy is very liberal, i have a hard time connecting with him at all. mcain doesnt float my boat either since he seems wishy washy and unpredictable.
i will vote the R regardless of who comes up. i always do. doesnt mean ill be happy about it;)
Interesting take....I like it.
I started lurking around the hanging chad time and then mostly posted over in the religious forum. talk about brutal!!!
im beginging to see that alot of the humor ive come to enjoy reading on FR is gone. lots of heated debates, name calling and general nastiness:(
guess im going to have to toughen up, especially since im rooting for the underdog:)
