19E didn't do cute for Daughtry. And even if they did, it clearly worked. His album is a mega-hit. You may have meant to type "Hicks."

You can hear AI/19 all over that record. It was 1000% designed to cross over to "pop" radio. It's a good record given that target audience. For a pure alt.rock audience it misses the mark.
I disagree. It wasn't nearly as bad as the watered-down rock flavored pop that they put together for Bo, but it fell way short of my expectations. It is definately produced for a specific, and commercial, audience.
It's kind of like going into a chain restaurant like Applebees or similar and ordering a "spicy" dish. They can't put a truly spicy hot dish together because the large majority of their customer base can't handle it. The delicate dears would break out in a sweat if you merely wave a pepper near the food. I was hoping for Habanero with Daughtry's album*. Instead we got TacoHell Mild.
*The Slash track gives me hope for future albums.
