Blake is the best of a sorry lot, in my opinion. I think Chris Sligh has a really good voice, but he is defeating himself. He reminds me of a wounded duck trying to hide from a hunter. He hides a potentially big talent behind all that hair and his weight and his lame jokes. It's sad.
Strangely enough, Melinda Doolittle also fits the wounded duck analogy but, in contrast to Chris, she seems to have made the decision to put it all out there come what may.
I think that Chris Sligh has a really nice voice and would probably kill some old Meatloaf tunes or some other soulfull cuts. His image stinks and his snarky attitude hides a ton of insecurity. If he only had some confidence but again, we are dealing with mostly amateur talent so perhaps if he stays in longer he might evolve like Elliott did.
Outside of him the guys are lounge acts at best and shame on Simon, Paula and Randy for promoting this sorry bunch to the top 12 male vocalists.
I really like the women this year. I look forward to hearing Lakisha, Melinda and Jordan each week for different reasons. They can all seriously sing and I would pay to hear the three of them do a performance.
That's after 13 weeks of AI bootcamp and consultations by some professionals but the raw talent is there.
I agree. I think all the guys were trying to "play it safe" again last night, just trying to get into the Top 12.
