Yes you should have. Here's a question for your edification, should you reason and research it out:
Why *then* would a reasonable, caring, loving and kind people put the wife at leseer status to the husband at laws in equity (that is, property ownership)?
The clue is in the real, practical differences between life now and then. We NOW live in some mush greater comfort and safety, in particular with regard to one thing directly related to sex. Think about it.

I know little of the property rights of unmarried women during the Revolutionary War period. If you do know, please share. As concerning the property and estate rights concerning married women during this period, you stand corrected. Don't patronize me.
