The originator of this thread sent me mail with a list of some unusual beliefs held by Mormons over the years. Every religion on earth has beliefs, rituals, etc that are a bit strange to all others who are not involved.

The level of intolerance of some here tonight is more intense than usual, along with an often vicious approach to anyone who doesn't agree with them in condemning all Mormons, all Muslims etc.

Maybe the poster (FarRockaway) really IS Bay Buchanan? Busy little Tancredo supporter. Denied to me that s/he was posting against Mormons!

It's been disgusting, to say the least.

Obviously you are referring to moi. However, I do you no service if I do not point out the error of your ways :)

By the way, I do not condemn ALL Mormons or Muslims, just those who wish to run for high political office. That is hardly vicious, it's instead something I like to call "self preservation", which is perhaps moving to a philosophical plane one too deep. I think even invertebrates are allowed to look to their own survival without guilt, are they not?

So believing that black people are cursed of the devil, women are sexual slave-property, and that god said there was men on the moon are, "beliefs and rituals that are a bit strange"?

Yeah, I'd say that's a bit strange. Some would even call it bigoted.

So you want to defend the group who "over the years" (all 150 of them) from time to time just happened to beleive that black people were sub-humans under the curse of god and that women were slave property chattle? I like the level tones with which you call me intolerant. They soothe me.

Bonnie, Coyote is starting a camp for troubled internet users which uses magnets and warming lamps to align your force fields. Interested?

You said -- "The originator of this thread sent me mail with a list of some unusual beliefs held by Mormons over the years. Every religion on earth has beliefs, rituals, etc that are a bit strange to all others who are not involved."

Their "religion" is simply and totally *non-Christian* -- and well-documented to be so. There are ample materials out there documenting this. Walter Martin's book "The Kingdom of the Cults" is a good place to start for first -- defining the main tenets of true Christianity -- and then secondly, comparing all the other *cults* with true Christianity and giving a "point-by-point" analysis of it.

Oh sweet merciful crap!

You are practicing intolerance of the tolerant.

Everybody has to agree with you or they are "intolerant."
