The Iraqi's and Afghanis want it a lot more than the Vietnamese. How many Vietnamese ever turned out to vote for a Constitution, or three elections for a legislature? Or stood up a national police and military force? The South Vietnamese Army was a joke and never was worth spit, but there are major ops in Iraq RIGHT NOW, and for over a year, that have engaged large numbers of terrorists and are manned EXCLUSIVELY by Iraqi's. If you ever actually talked to guys that have been there, you'd know that, and wouldn't be basing your opinions, and vote, on false assumptions fed to you by the media. If voting even though you've been told your kids will be killed if you vote isn't enoguh to prove they want freedom, then I bet most Americans don't even have the guts to vote now a days. Most Americans don't vote when their lived don't depend on it. At leat the Iraqi's and Afghanis are making sacrifices over there. 99% of Americans who oppose the war in Iraq haven't given up SQUAT or sacrificed ANYTHING!!!

"I also sense this largely was a protest vote...a throw the bums out....not really a 'we love the Dems and want to toss out the Republicans' vote."

Exactly. A lot of Republicans did not deserve to keep their seats, and the voters told them so. I think the rest of your sentence should read, "....and we'll do the same to YOU, too", for the Dems. If they screw up, the voters won't be patient with it for very long.

It's just about enough to make you wonder if someone invented a retard pill and slipped it into the water supply in red districts. I sure don't understand it. I WANT CONSERVATIVE fiscal and social government that actually obeys the Constitution AS WRITTEN, and the GOP is the closest party there is that will offer that that has a snowballs chance in H**L of getting elected. Fed up as I am with Bush on the border and illegal immigration and not fighting rampant liberal social issues, the GOP is STILL much better then the Democrats, and considering a global war, the Republican Congress has been doing pretty good with spending. As war time budgets go, it's not too bad, and considering goverment revenue, the deficit has dropped like a rock. I bet that will change now with a Democrat Congress. If they pass the minimum wage increase, that will raise unemployment, lower new jobs, and decrease invesement, as business owners and the evil wealthy of America will protect what they have, fearing deep incrochment by Democrats to take what they have. That will tank the economy guaranteed. To compensate, the Democrats will rape the military just like Clinton did, and then we'll start losing lives because of budget shortfalls, and then lose the war. And when that happens, the lives of all the Iraqi's and Afghanis's who are slaughtered by the terrorists when the democratic governments colapse after we retreat, those millions of lives will be squarely on the heads of those who voted so cowardly in this election.

I know everyone is upset today but all is not lost. We've 49 GOP senators, so we have filibuster power. And the President has the veto and the liberals don't have 67% of the congress. Let's get on the President and the GOP to start acting like conservatives. If we do this we'll be on the road to victory in 2008. Both at home and abroad.

If you care to look the Republicans got a lot of good legislation passed the past couple years. Or do you think the bills Bush signed he just pulled out of his butt? The GOP Congress wasn't near as conservative as it should have been, but it was a h**l of a lot more conservative than anything that will come from this Democrat Congress. That's the thing that short sighted cut and run conservatives don't seem to comprehend. They haven't taught the GOP a lesson. They've just made America suffer under at LEAST two years of House and Senate Democrat leader ship. Oooooo bravo. Way to show the GOP. Remember that when your taxes are higher, your money goes to fun unresrticted embryonic and fetal stem cell research and human cloning, the military is slowly starved of funds, and Stevens is replaced with a Kennedy type of gutless wonder, instead of yet another solid conservative Justice like Scalia which we would have gotten from that "weak" GOP Senate.

Well that is the bitter irony isn't it? When Terrorists hit America, they kill liberal Democrat voters at a ratio much greater then 9-1 even. Look at the fiction that is "Jericho". The cities hit include, DC, Philidephia, Seattle, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, and other liberal hot beds. Liberals are so against the war, some conservatives swallowed the liberal media koolaid on the war, and now the country pays for it and the military right now is over there fighting and beating the terrorists, but after learning that the Democrats took the Congress, the miltiary is wondering "what kind of voter p*****s are in America doing this to us anyway??? I am most angry for the miltiary in this election because the military deserved far more than a Democrat Congress. Some people think the war in Iraq has been PC. Wait till they see what the Democrats do with it, when they actually formulate a plan anyway. they have to perform now. They have the big offices now, they better perform, but as is well known, liberals talk big and always under-perform.

I wish you weren't, but you are totally right. Now it's up to us the ones that DIDN'T bail in the midnight hour, to pick up the pieces. But I for one, NEVER forget a traitor. I don't think most real conservatives do. I can forgive the liberals, they're just being who they are. But fellow conservatives. Nope. This won't be forgotten. There are a lot of apologies to be made by a lot of "conservatives" in the coming months for what they've done to the country with their childish "I'll show them" non-vote.

Thanks. I sure didn't enjoy making it. It needed to be said and I'm not even close to the only one that will say it. Not by a long shot. The people who are uncomfortable with what I said should have thought about this reaction from other conservatives before they threw the country under the bus to fulfill their egotistical need to have their "I'll show you" moment. Quite an accomplishment. A few hundred thousand cut and run conservatives managed to do in two weeks what the liberal Democrats weren't able to orchestrate in over a decade. Take the Congress back for the Democrats. The only hope right now is that the recount and miliary votes in Virginia and Montana might yeild one more Republican seat so that a good conservative Justice can be nominated to a bare minimum Republican majority. I don't believe this will happen though.

Oh grow up and check your stupid cliche's at the door. How about you take a shut up pill. I'm saying what should be said and most people agree with me. Deal with it or take a hike. I'm tired of low intellect simpleton one liner slams on me. Get an IQ or go away.

You could use an IQ too. What you did is just as weak as critiquing a typo someone made and totally passing on the content of a post because you have no argument against it. Just because you can't debate me rationally, doesn't mean some cutsie stupid post means anything. Since "America" is part of "United States of America", it's fully accurate to call myself or the country "American" or "America" Canada is Canada not America. America is the United States, OR America. Or are you suggesting that when every President and important person has said "God Bless America" or any other phrase just saying "America", they also mean Canada and Mexico, maybe Greenland too. Get lost. Your post contributed nothing and I'll but my IQ and education against yours anytime. Bring it smart guy.

Listen, I voted straight republican but not for Perry in TX. The GOP did not respond to the conservative nation. The dems kept Pelosi and Reid in a closet for three wks before the election. The democriatic party used to have values in common with most americans, and it was their social issues where we differed. When they went off the deep end and supported all those special interest factions which were out to erase our traditional values...they blew it. They see it now. When the congressional GOP failed us...they really did need to be jerked up short. They either stand for us or they don't. If they don't, they need to be booted. Lets see how the next two years play out. The dems will either respond to the preferences of a nation or special interest groups. They too can hang themselves. I would rather have them (dems)hang themselves in the next 2 years then see them take it all in 2008. The GOP needs to keep its nose clean.

most of the losses occurred in areas where the Dems had previously held seats anyway most of the time.

In other words, they were just reverting back to their normal political situation.

It wasn't like there was a anti-GOP wave in the South or something losing tons of GOP seats there. We lost at least one or two there, but not a huge amount.

The one shock was KS-2 in my mind. But, we could gain that one back pretty easily.

What needed to be done to fix the GOP should have been done in the primaries. If conservatives in some states weren't able to cure themselves of RINOs in the primaries then it's their DUTY to shelve it until the next Primaries two years later. The election is NOT the time to try and purge the party of RINOs, or send a message. That by definition is what the primaries are for! Clearly too many voters don't understand the electoral process. The election is for keeping liberals out of office and out of the majority. Many conservatives utterly failed on BOTH counts. Now they need to suck it up, take responsiblity, and live with their HORRIBLE mistake. I know quite well how the process works in our system of government. That doesn't mean that people who make STUPID decisions in their voting are exempt from critisicm. This is a mistake ALL conservatives are going to have to pay for for the next two years. And if I'm going to have to pay for someone else's STUPID SHORT SIGHTED ARROGANT mistake, they d**n sure are going to hear from me about it. If they can't handle that, then that couldn't possibly be MORE their problem.

"here are a lot of apologies to be made by a lot of "conservatives" in the coming months for what they've done to the country with their childish "I'll show them" non-vote."

I agree. I guess the ones who "sat out the election" will enjoy the moonbat parade as stinky she-man, the ditzy twits, alec baldwin, and Hollywood grind us up and spit us out for the next 40 years. We won't get power back in our lifetimes. There simply are not enough conservatives left in Congress.

Our only saving grace is that now the nation will see what gridlock hell looks like. I wonder if the libs will vote to do away with the DHS before or after our next terror hit.

Hey I've been preaching about the GOP having a spine and actually behaving like a really conservative party for YEARS. But the election was NOT the time for some voters to decide to swing it around and act like big shots. Totally demonstrates selfish arrogance on the part of some voters who had to have their little ego "notice me, I'm protest voting or not voting" moment. That is just retarded on a genetic level. The whole country will pay for this mistake for two years, and most importanty, we have over 250,000 military personnel in combat zones over seas who are learning the results of this election, over there shaking their heads wondering what kind of idiots are being allowed to vote over here. They put it on the line for us, and some stupid ego driven "conservatives" decide to have a little protest vote, and strap the miltiary with a shadow socialist liberal Democrat Congressional majority, while the military is in the line of fire. Now they can get show from in front AND behind. GOOD JOB "conservative" protest voters.

I sure wish I didn't have to. I was really certain that most conservative were smarter than this. I think MOST were. But the minority of real conservatives that botched this was enough to cost us Talent and Allen and Burns and a dozen or more House seats. A little stupid can really go a long way.
