The sentencing priorities seem a little backward to me. I guess you see nothing wrong with this situation.

I see nothing wrong with the conviction.
I stated earlier that I thought the sentence was stiff.
But, it was pointed out that there are mandatory sentencing guidlines in effect.

Whoever came up with mandatory minimum sentences was completely evil. We did not need them the first 170 years of our country and we do not need them now. And this case is a perfect reason why. Prosecutors will abuse them to no end. They remind me of zero tolerance policies in schools, made for idiots by idiots.
