Everything I know about the effects of the Bush tax cuts, etc. leads me to believe that revenue neutrality can be achieved at a lower rate than 23%. My best guess is under 20%. But it's been awhile since I've seen studies on this aspect of the FairTax proposal. Anything new on this front?
Try 23.82%.

Yes - a very detailed definitive study hinted at by Nightie as though it were a negative (but is not) linked in post #96.

The study by Kotlikoff et al is detained and quite good. Even though it is a static analysis it shows the 23% rate to be right on target now. I suspect that with the use of dynamic analysis (static always favors the income tax status quo) that the real rate required can easily be somewhat lower.

Be sure to check it out ... it even clarifies some of deficiencies of the Tax Panel Report study (and its minions) - though you would have read many of the criticisms of the Report on these threads already.
