Sorry, haven't had time to read the whole thread - but I'm guessing any Amish that has a cell phone is not old-order, and is more likely Mennonite...that or "former Amish".

Nope. Came right out of the Amish Homestead in Lancaster. And you can see them "carrying", too.

These people deliberate about whether a device/technology is OK or not. Cell phones are deemed OK, at least in Lancaster. Wired phones outside the homestead are OK, too.
