Is it me, or are the reporters suggesting that the troopers actions made him shoot the children?
This is not a public school. There were 27 children K-8. It is a small schoolhouse. Someone could break into anyone's home and hold them hostage. This schoolhouse is probably as big as many homes that children are schooled in. Pretty close to home schooling. Actually, it shows that no one is above these incidents.
Perp had given a 10-second warning to cops, and then he started shooting in rapid succession - - - the cops began the assault upon getting the 10-second warning - - -
You're right, at least according to the Wired piece, that it's not a knee-jerk rejection, but a thoughtful process. They've had telephones for many years, but not inside the home, which would encourage people to isolate themselves from the community; the phones are in public areas. In the Wired article, the elders were just starting to consider cell phones, but it was written in 1999, so I guess they've resolved that.
I agree.
Funny thing: The Amish are fatalist. They will say "What will be, will be." They won't ask why they are hated.
so before help arrived, he had time to nail 2x4's across every doorway, AND bind all the girls' feet, AND shoot them all?
too bad one of them teachers/aids couldn't have shot this creep before he had the chance to do all this.
**Leave your radical homeschool agenda at the door.**
What is your problem?
This is just horrible!
Woman problems? (Not that I really care.)
My little one is home today - school holiday - just hugged him so tight he complained that he couldn't breath.
My heart aches for those parents & siblings
Most of 'em say "LANK-ster"
Dis the shooter have issues with females? Repressed?
All of the victims are female, so you gotta wonder...
No it's not you
These idiot always blame everyone but they animal who does the evil
Agreed. The trooper who held the little girl as she died must be heartbroken.
Actually, it reminds me of the home-school co-op's I used to attend when I was in grade school.
You're right. No one is safe.
Exactly.
It was NOT a student. And like you blondee, I was listening carefully and NEVER heard FOX say it was a student shooter.
Hug him again for us....
I used to commute back and forth through Bart Township - drove within a quarter mile or so of the location for the school. The Amish kids would be walking to school or riding scooters, each one carrying their lunches in small Igloo coolers. The schools all have two outhouses and a swingset or two. The kids could have been from the last century. And now that is violated in the most profane manner possible. Just horrifying.
