I am so sorry for your losses and what you are going through right now...I had to deal with my mom with Alzheimers, and my dad with cancer...tho it was a few years back...for you, things are still very close to the surface, and as you say, 'raw'...I completely understand...

This happens to most of us...there comes a time, when our parents are very aged, or very ill, and end of life issues become so very important...and their end of life care is so very important...and we have the privilege of caring for them, as they cared for us when we were babies and children...but its difficult, because we realize that what we are doing for our parents is end of life care, as opposed to the beginning of life care they gave us...

I hope you will take care of yourself, thats important, if you plan to help care for your mom...I took care of both of my parents at home, until they died, but was lucky enough to have money enough to hire nurses and aides to care for them a few hours a day, so that I could take care of myself, and my family...Your care for yourself is super important...

I will think of you this evening, and think of your mom...will say a prayer for you...should you ever just want to chat, Freepmail me...I have cared for my mom with Alzheimers while she was dying, I cared for my dad with cancer while he was dying, and I also cared for my older son, with leukemia, while he was dying...I have some small insight into the toll this can take on a person..sometimes just having another person to use a sounding board, can help...I would be pleased to help you in any way I can...take care...

Be well also, friend...

and people that play bridge have a high I.Q. In fact, experts in chess, sometimes get tired of chess, and change over to bridge

I have played expert at chess and know something about bridge also, so I want to know why do you choose that one part of a sentence out of a whole dialog as your entry point to ridicule and marginalize Sun onyx? Was it because Howlin clued you into it?

Each game has its own origins dynamics variables and parameters, and one game is not ascrndant over the other, so go with a game analogy this is not the strongest entry point for you here.., capiche?

The points that you and Howlin think you are making very forcefully are.., well just what are they??

I think I know Howlin & onyx, but just in case.., spell it all out for us.

You are blessed, andy. You used the word "privledge" and that's exactly the word I've used over and over to describe how it felt to take care of my mother when she was recuperating. Like you, we are fortunate enough to do whatever it takes. Thank you for your kind words. My mother is "ok" right now, but I know this is just the beginning of a long haul. I am prepared, as much as one could be, and will DO whatever she needs and wants.

We already have a living will as my mother is adament about no resusitation or extraordinary measures.

God is good...........all the time.

My own mother never got to see anything beyond age 42 starting with a precursor at 27 and a resurgent at 40'sh

Yes it was cancer

'privledge'?

Perhaps yes, because what is life itself but a gift?

Your spelling is fine...we all know exactly what you mean...both of my parents also had living wills, they insisted upon them...and they made sure that I knew exactly what they did and did not want...they told me verbally, and had it down in writing...they lived as they chose, and they died as they chose...free from pain, no extraordinary measures, and family surrounding them, holding them as they died..

Yes, you are probably in for a long haul...and yet, this can be an extremely precious time, because you know, that realistically time may be short now...often its a time for remembering things together, slowing down a little in this busy life and just enjoying the slow times with your mom will be so very enjoyable...I wish you the very best, and will remember you both...please, do keep me updated...

You might point out that Jeb Bush had no problem getting elected in a state where this Gallagher character can't ge the time of day.

Tom has been very clear on the issues and his platform. Tom is Pro-Life, Tom is against amnesty for illegal immigrants, Tom is against civil unions for gay couples, and he has taken a position alongside Governor Bush to develop alternatives to the class size amendment which will cost taxpayers many billions to implement.

Tom has also endorsed Charlie Crist.

Thank you RunningWolf.

Howlin is just angry, because I spanked him so many times. Children are like that. Howlin, like most liberals, always will pick and choose PART of a post, because they don't have the intelligence to answer entire posts. Poor Howlin. Maybe we need to cut him some slack.

RunningWolf, it's obvious by your posts that you're intelligent, so no surprise that you are an expert at chess.

My brother was president of a chess club, and used to write chess columns in the newspaper, so I know a lot of chess players, and some of them have gone over to bridge, or play both.

I have also read that chess players, when they reach their elderly years, are less like to get Alzheimer's than bingo players, probably because chess stimulates the mind (although nothing is written in stone).

"Tom has also endorsed Charlie Crist."

They do that in politics, but Charlie Crist is STILL a liberal, which I have show on my posts..

Hey Howlin, do you play bingo??

Didn't you ask me not to ping you? (no doubt because you are no match for me).

So why are you now pinging ME?

They do that in politics,

By 'that,' you mean they get behind the party's nominee becasue they realize that he is far better than the other party's nominee.

Yes, that particular person needs all the help she can get. Can never stand on her own two feet, always calling for back-up. It is one thing for silly women to show up and defend her but when grown men feel like they need to cower to her....it is just embarrassing...

Boy, people really feel the need to defend Crist around here. One would think there would be no need to defend him since, as they put, Florida loves him and he will be the next governor. However, I think many of them are worried about the Dem. winning. I wonder why that is?
