Your great great grandfather was forced into the situation by the slaveowning elite who precipitated the conflict. Had it been up to people like your ancestor, the Deep South states would never have attempted to leave the Union, because only the rabid pro-slavery element had anything to gain from disunion.
I don't agree with the choice your ancestor was forced to make but his decision came from honorable motives. On the other hand, the selfish Southern politicians who started the whole mess often left the fighting to their more honorable neighbors while they stayed home and took it easy on the plantation.
I think one can honor the memory of such Confederate ancestors while at the same time revile the selfishness that would sacrifice the peace and unity of a nation to their narrow material interest.
don't you understand that you've been LIED TO & MADE a FOOL OF your whole life. face it, "roo", your BASE PREMISES are FALSE, thus everything you post is also FALSE & makes you look clueLESS & SILLY.
try doing some DEEP reading into the original documents of the period & you'll look smarter. look at what the DAMNyankee elites DID, rather than what they SAID & you won't have your eyes so closed to the TRUTH, as much as it hurts to admit you've been BEGUILED!
