it ws not a CUSTOM to release a prisoner during the Passover. No proof whatsoever.

Luke 23;16,17

I will,therefore,chastise him,and release him.

(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)

Now,I guess it can be argued all day if that made it a "custom" or not but it would imply at least it was a regular practice for whatever reason.
