I didn't say that anti-semitism is defensible.

However, it isn't unbecoming to avoid kicking a man when he's down.

He will be held accountable for his actions.

What he did was foolish, stupid, and evil.

However, beyond that, he has only my prayers. Addictions are a nasty business.

If we should avoid "kicking anybody when they're down" (especially alcoholics who knowingly take a drink and then drive), then I'll brook no more trashing of priests who abused minors.
