I live in New York City, and the Rudy Era was a great time here in New York. Crime plummeted, tourists and businesses came back in droves and the streets were cleaned up of all sorts of garbage. I may not be a fan of Hollywood's politics, but their activities put money in the city's coffers. It is no exaggeration to say that Rudy was the best thing to happen to this city in my lifetime.
I totally agree. I live in Queens, and I voted for him for mayor twice and have seen this city go from bad to wonderful because of him.
Post-Dinkins, NYC needed somebody with an iron fist to come in and clean house. Guiliani did it better than anybody could have imagined.
But the country is not NYC and does not need Rudy's iron fist pounding on it.
I will vote for just about anybody but McCain over Rudy in the primaries. If he gets the nomination, I'll reluctantly vote for him over Hillary, only because he will prosecute the war on terrorism with vigor at least equal to Bush. I'll just hope the constitution can survive the onslaught President Guiliani will lead on it domestically.
