I've always maintained that considering his contribution in hastening the end to the war of Northern Aggression, Gen. W.T.Sherman should be on on the $50 bill.

Yep...however, I can lead you to some people who still carry the stories of their ancestors having to leach salt out of
burned down/pilfered smokehouses to survive.  They would put a bullet between your running lights for your "lauding" Sherman's "contribution" before they'd curse a black neighbor.

concur; memories of war certainly alters perceptions of history.
Thanks for the antidote.

Sherman was simply taking a more practical, accelerated approach to the Anaconda Plan instead of the slow bleed that was killing more civilians.
