can you PROVE that??? (NOPE is the correct answer, because your assertion just isn't TRUE!)

Sure I can. The 1860 census data is available on-line here. The data on free blacks by state is even broken down by age ranges. I've looked at it and allowing for the widest possible definition of military age I still come up with far fewer than 25,000 free black males of military age in the entire confederacy. So where does "Professor" Blackerby say the other 75,000 to 125,000 came from? The North?

you and i have talked about how POOR the 19th century census figures are.

some of the figures are outright GUESSES. furthermore, as i've said, MANY areas in the 1860 census weren't counted at all.

DALLAS & FT WORTH, on the west bank of the Trinity, for 2 cities, didn't get "enumerated, as the bridges were "OUT" during the census & nobody even tried to make a count. instead they made a GUESS on, who lived on the west bank..

i trust NOTHING from ANY 19th century census, absent independent proof, like TAX RECORDS for example.
