I agree and you put it in better words than I. Advances in science produce benefits that are ultimately shared by all but, the money collected by charlatans and liars only benefits and encourages more charlatans and liars while the suckers who donate don't get anything but false hope and soiled knees in return.
I think for many pushing these books and such, this is only a business for them, they have found a way to make a fine living...I am not even sure, that some among them , actually have a solid religious faith...I am sure some do...but as we have seen within the realm of the TV preachers,and the TV faith healers, for many of them, they paid less attention to faith and salvation, and more attention to how much money they could earn, and how many grand things they could buy...and some landed in jail for their 'good works'...
I am sure that many creationists writing their books, and producing their tapes, are earnestly carrying out what they feel is 'Gods work'...on the other hand, I am convinced that many of them care more about their financial bottom line, than they do about God....
