I would think Simon must have been astounded at how poorly the pros did.Awful. Most of the pros were has-beens from another era trying to sell new albums and/or re-ignite their careers. I may be the unusual one around here who did not like seeing the show turned into a vehicle to pimp all these peoples' latest ventures. I like it better the first three seasons, when it was more purely about the contestants.
I guess maybe I'm still annoyed about the relatively short winning moment celebration they had -- at least as I saw it here.

I did enjoy seeing Dionne Warwick, BUT, at 66, I think she has troible hitting certain notes. I wouldn't have thought that they were so desperate for acts that they would have to resort to some of the people they had on. Surely they could have done better than that.
Remember how celebs used to line up to get on The Muppet Show? I would think AI would be the same way.

(Taylor--he sings, writes his own songs, plays instruments, has charisma, and he's the whole package.)

You're not the only one. I would rather have seen the contestants do more songs together or the 2 finalists do an extra song or two. I will give some credit to Al Jarreau. He at least put some effort into it. Can't say that about a couple of female performers. There should be a big finish. Whoever wins should be able to at least finish their song and have a moment or two to bask in it. It's the winner's night.
