The exotic dancer who accused members of the Duke University lacrosse team of raping her at a party may have been slipped a date-rape drug, according to an interview with the second dancer in the May 1 issue of Newsweek that appeared on stands today.
Newsweek also reported that a defense attorney said some DNA evidence had been found under the accuser's fingernails, but that the first round of DNA testing - which did not incriminate any of the 46 players swabbed - was inconclusive about identity. Results from a second round of tests are expected this week.
The accuser, a 27-year-old black college student and mother, said she was raped and beaten by white students on March 13 after performing for them at a house party. Two lacrosse team members, Collin Finnerty, 19, of Garden City, and Reade Seligmann, 20, of Essex Fells, N.J., were charged Tuesday. Defense lawyers have maintained their clients' innocence, offering a detailed timeline and time-stamped photos from the party that they say throw the woman's story into doubt.

goodnight everybody
Lordy, it will take me all night to catch up on this thread - I'm only at post 201. But catch up I shall! Tomorrow. (Really makes one wonder who m-uah really is, don't it?) What a [I was going to say "loser", but it's way too early in the thread!] Nite y'all!
Maybe Nifong lied when he said he sent the materials for the second test or else he requested the actual testing be delayed or asked to have the results delayed. The defense should seek a subpoena on the lab for the date the materials and instructions were received, and what those materials and instructions were.
Don't forget her 9-1-1 call in which Kim clearly states that "They didn't hurt me, but I'm just so offended...."
What are her damages? What's she going to sue for? How was she harmed? Any suit Roberts files will be a hail mary prayer for a nuisance settlement.
And while they're at it, how about testing the back steps for Mangum's blood and nail polich?
Nifong might peel off enough black votes to hand the election to Black.
I believe it's been reported that none of the players' DNA OR fingerprints were found on any of Mangum's property that was recovered from the house.
And that's why I think Kim initiated the unpleasantries with the players - to get Mangum drugged, rolled and out of the location and her car long before the gig was supposed to be up so as to get the money and get rid of Mangum before Mangum's ride showed up.
The cabby has corrected himself on the time of the second call to the house: 12:29am he received a call while still driving Reade around.
The cops don't need probable cause to run somebody for warrants. They either chose not to run her or the warrant wasn't active at that moment. She obviously gave them her correct name, or else they wrote down the plate number and found out her real name through a motor vehicle check. There was a story out early on in the full public awareness of the case that the cops had to track Kim down in order to get her statemnt about what went on at the house.
-----Nothing has failed yet, but the race card was played quite early several threads ago. I am surprised it continues with such a strong undercurrent at this late date.-----
The only one playing the race card is you. Of course, after your amusing super-secret-condom theory, this is not a surprise.
Cool!
I, too, have been getting quite the picture of what Kim WOULDN'T do for money. Did Kim have an appointment? And who better than a drugged Crystal to do that "other" appointment for her, while Kim collected?
Was up in Pennsylvania for four days--very little talk of 'the Duke case' up there. (Meanwhile, I am exhibiting full blown signs of FR withdrawal!) Those that expressed interest were just grateful it was not the basketball team!
I was watching O'Reilly, H&C and Greta last night. Guests speculated on the date rape drug theory. How come not one of them talked about that if she had been given the darn drug, then how come she remembers everything. My guess is no date rape drug, but they all conveniently skip over that. They can talk their heads off about other junk but not that.
I think you have a point. Talking heads yesterday were saying it does not take this long to do the DNA tests.
One of them convinces many of its targets that they've been raped ~ whether they have been or not.
You ever see someone else reacting the way Dancer #2 is reacting, you might well suspect they've been drugged. It's necessary to get a blood test as soon as possible since the body metabolizes this stuff.
Same reason they don't like to talk about one man on his cell and then in a cab on the way to the dorm when this is supposed to have happened, another at dinner at a restaruant ... it makes her story dubious on its face. Can't have that, ya know. [/sarc]
So, who owned what and whose prints were on each item ~ I don't think we are going to know until after the next court hearing.
