Hello, Sinky. Trying to demoralize the conservative base again, are we?
If you weren't so certain of your own sanctimony, you'd be shocked by some of the comments on this thread.
In what is any of these posters being "sanctimonious"? Would that be a "conservative" sanctimony? Is it to the right of your own upper-middle-class, these-people-are-uneducated-mouth-breathers sanctimony?
Please expound on the sanctimony, and differentiate it, if you will, from opinions strongly held by moral people that most of your business-wing people (more and more of whom seem to be getting indicted) can't hold a candle to for simple honesty and frankness.
They're hateful, not only toward gay people, but toward the President and his wife.
Could you show me a post that is literally, and I mean literally, "hateful" toward George W. Bush and Laura Bush? As opposed, of course, to "critical" or "indignant" or any of the other words that might apply if you weren't in full polemical attack mode yourself.
Then show us a post that compares closely in its semiotics to the kind of expression that is the benchmark of genuine hatefulness, that of the Third Reich toward the Jews of Europe, the Romany gypsies, socialists, Slavs, and other people who were genuine objects of Nazi hatred. There are lots of examples, no doubt. You could cull Stormfront and Europa.com (if it's still there) for more current examples. Show us.
If your conscience permits you to advocate the exclusion of gay people from an event that has always been open to all
Policemen exclude pickpockets from county fairs. Is that a bum rap? Do they have to wait until someone's wallet disappears before they move on Louie the Dip?
If the VVAW, the Million Moms, and Code Pink were coming to the Easter lawn party and announced beforehand that they were going to use their presence to "do politics" -- carrying around signs around their necks, that kind of thing -- would your opinion be any different?
.....and to use it as an occasion for the lowest forms of locker room references and snickering, well, that's your business.
I'm sorry if you don't like locker room references. I'm sure they are career-limiting in the crowd you play......what, squash?.....with at lunchtime, and people ought to be more sensitive. Really, they should.
Okay, everybody, sinkspur is unhappy with locker-room humor and references, so please desist. His ears hurt from the meanness and the billingsgate spirit of it all.
Play nice.
Whew!!! Well, he had that coming. 8^D
