Hey, that's cool! I've never seen that butterfly before. In any case, what I said above with regard to this in the context of "irreducible simplicity" applies just the same. There are any number of less refined markings that confer a survival advantage, as displayed by moths with far less precise mimicry.
Here for instance:
That is evidently imitating a cat. It might not seem like much of a cat to you, but it's enough of a cat to help the butterfly survive, and maybe in a few thousand years it'll be a much better cat facsimile, such as here:

AntiGuv,
I've tried to carry on a reasonable discussion of ideas have I not? I've learned a bit from yourself, Right Wing Professor, Virginia-American, and maybe one or two others, and enjoyed your comments.
However, in the process I've had to wade through an enormous amount of personal attacks, including attacks on my honesty, and my religion, where I've been nothing but upfront. I think you would back me on that.
I'm frankly done reading posts from any but the three of you on evo. What is there to possibly gain from it? It just makes me want to become a flat earther to avoid guilt by association with the majority of posters on evo.
I'd love to take up the issue of the camouflage with you, but prefer to do it by email, vice open forum, so that some reasonable conversation can occur.
