Here's what I don't get: everyone I know- liberal or conservative- thinks the War on Drugs is a disaster, a waste of time, and a horrible idea that must be put to an end. It's probably the one issue everyone agrees on. My question is this: who are the people that are actually supporting this nonsense? There has to be a pretty sizable group out there somewhere, or else this money wouldn't be wasted every year. From what I can see, most people want this fake war ended.

I think most people are still brainwashed by the government on this matter. Second, there are hundreds of thousands of government workers whose career depends on the War on Drugs. Notwithstanding the utter moral imperative to end the war, the government is "addicted" to the War to keep their parasite class employed. Remember, it came out after 911 that many FBI staffs around the country were mostly dedicated to the WOD, not terrorism. It would take a strong visionary leader to end this insane drug war.

"who are the people that are actually supporting this nonsense?"

follow the money. Fighting the war on drugs is just as big of an industry as the drug trafficking is if not bigger.

You'll find plenty of 'do gooders' who prefer the nanny-state over individual freedom. And you'll find some of them in this very forum...curiously though, not many will have the courage to post to this thread.

They are the ATF and it's employees, the DEA and it's employees, the FBI and it's employees, and so on and so on.........once a government agency is created, getting rid of it is impossible. My idea is to stop the war on drugs, eliminate the ATF, take all ATF field agents adn turn them over to the FBI and Border patrol. Do the same with the DEA.

My question is this: who are the people that are actually supporting this nonsense?

Ironically, it's the drug warriors AND the drug dealers who BOTH benefit from drug prohibition. The former get lifetime employment opportunities, with potential for career advancement as the anti-drug bureacracy grows year after years dispite it's ineffectiveness, and the latter benefit by virtue of the prohibition making their product scarce, and thus highly profitable. Illegality also makes it easy for them to eliminate pesky competition; all they have to do is drop a dime on their competitirs, and the drug warriors put them out of business for them, assuring them continued high profit margins.

That's what makes the WOD so diabolical -- it makes the law enforcers and the law breakers defacto allies, neither of which benefitting from legalization.

The same politicians who want to grant amnesty to 12 million illegal immigrants. They are all out of touch and on thev take.

Do not vote for any incumbent. They must be taught to listen.
