Bush called reports at about 2.30 aboard Air Force One to issue a very strong defense of port deal... MORE... He said he would veto any legislation to hold up deal and warned the United States was sending 'mixed signals' by going after a company from the Middle East when nothing was said when a British company was in charge... Lawmakers, he said, must 'step up and explain why a middle eastern company is held to a different standard.' Bush was very forceful when he delivered the statement... You know what? My first instinct, when I heard those words by Bush, was that he was taunting opposition, trying to shame them by common "you're a loser" taunts (in this case, "you're a racist/nationalist" taunt)...using a rather sandbox-ian type bullying strategy to try to belittle the opposition into caving to his position.
I honestly think those words of his give him away as being under the influence of some other issue/cause/reason that he is not "comfortable" talking about, and that means he's withholding something of great/er importance while otherwise using a taunt method.
"Anti Arab sentiment" is nonsense as taunt because it belittles the very serious issues pertinent and relevant to "ARABS" that we Americans all too well remember: terrorism. It's not a small or little or wantonly prejudicial thing here, that's evident and it's really disappointing to hear Bush try to demean the concerns about, yes, Arabs and "Arabia" because we have very good reasons to question their sincerity and loyalty. Bush, of all people, should know that.
The British are our allies. P & O are not state owned. They don't decapitate defenseless hostages. We are at war,so we are told, against islamofacists and their sponsors. 9/11 holds the Middle Eastern countries to a different standard. You, Mr. President need to step up and explain.
NOW it's become a big deal BY THE MEDIA'S choice of coverage. The MSM is framing the story!
