Maybe this is part of an under the table deal with the Saudis and surrounding nations for our continuted military access in the ME

JMO, there seems to be a "family feud", for a lack of a better term, between the saudi's and the UAE.

The saudi's kicked the US military out, while the UAE is welcoming to the US military.

BTW, guess who is a major stockholder in Fox news, a saudi prince, and Fox news has been pushing this story, big time.
