I find it interesting that no one had any qualms that a foreign comapany was already operating out of our ports.

There is so much disinformation going on it's mindboggling.

I guess you would be happier if a french firm was operating out the ports.

I understand what you're saying. The previous owners naturally wanted to sell out to the highest bidders. But that doesn't mean that we had to approve it.

Frankly, I think our country has made a long-term mistake not doing a better job of developing a native merchant marine and domestic ports and shipbuilding. We've let the big unions cripple and kill our ports.

Not too many people remember the power of the Longshoreman's Union, because it has shrunk so much. But the ports suffered much as GM is suffering now because they made a devil's deal with the unions.
