I wish those reporters would insist on a demonstration...I'd be glad to pull the trigger on them.

The reporters are histrionic about the incident. Excited screeching, waving hands. The only quiet one in the group so far is Helen Thomas.Maybe she's dead in her chair. By the looks of her, you'd think she'd been decaying for months.

vast majority of wounds are superficial at best, says the DR.From Monty Python and the Holy Grail - The Black Knight has been defeated by King Arthur... or has he? "It's just a flesh wound!

He's in ICU because there is a risk of infection with multiple entry wounds. He's fine, not that it really matters to the media.

Nothing surprises me anymore.
I was thinking this morning, how this current day press crew would have reported at Weehauken on the Burr-Hamilton duel.
Of course, they would have actually have had to BE AT the duel in Weehauken to be able to report on it.
That's what is frying most of them. They let the story get by them.

"McClellan should have apologized profusely, and kissed up, and come up with a better reason"
Perhaps you would be more comfortable at DU. Since when is it necessary for McClellan to apologize for something like this?? If there is any criticism to be made of McClellan it is that he doesn't react better to the Reporters. Why would he apologize, and for what????

The V. P. did not have a plan for this accident.........as though there should be a policy manual for quail hunting accidents .
Congressional hearing?

Thanks for the info - I just cannot believe how blown out of proportion this is - at least they're not talking about NSA or Plame leak ; )

The media will find every negative they can: Buckshot, ICU etc, and they'll run with it!

If Clinton had shot someone during one of his hunting expeditions, they would be falling all over themselves with stats about how common it is, how the other guy was in the wrong spot, how apologetic he was about it all, etc. And of course it's quite OK to drown all your children if you're a bit depressed...! What a crazy world we're in now!

In their futile search for 'The Story' look for an interview w/Vietnam veteran John Kerry, intrepid duck hunter dressed in his barn coat and entoning about how HE would have been more careful since he was trained in handling guns for his Vietnam service, and he KNOWS about wounds since he has 3 Purple Hearts.

Yeah, and your failure to answer proves my point.
This was a MINOR hunting accident. No laws were broken, national security was not compromised, and there was no information here that makes it relevent to keep discussing for more than an initial report.
Please elaborate on the value of continuing to discuss this in the media days after the event occured.

You're kidding, right? They did NOT say that . . .

It would probably cause more trauma to remove them than the pellets caused themselves in the first place. Number 8 birdshot is pretty small stuff, and there are a lot of vital organs and major blood vessels in that area. They'll probably just load him up on antibiotics to knock the risk of infection down, and let nature take it's course.
I wonder if he'll have enough metal in him to set off the metal detectors when he flies? Could be an interesting story to tell the screener - "Yeah, the Vice President plugged me!"
