Anyone watching the press conference about the accidental shooting in Texas?

What keeps McCellan from taking off his shoe and throwing it at these people?! I'd last a nanosecond in that job. They keep badgering him about the EXACT time of everything. They're pissing over a few hours!

While I've heard of plenty of people getting peppered with birdshot (albeit some needing to go the ER to prevent infection, etc.), no one who I know that's been peppered has ever needed surgery or had internal organs penetrated.Ah, nice backtrack. Turns out I did know something about the subject, eh? It's still a shooting - in the most recent article I read, they were still pulling pellets out of the guy. Seems like more than just a "peppering".

I can see the headlines these dumbasses are going to write:
WH Cover UP of Cheney's Shooting
Details of Cheney Shooting Unclear
'The Shooter' Delayed Reporting to Media for 22 Hours
Cheney Mum About Shooting; Did not show up for press conference
Whittington Almost Killed by VP

Actually, it seems to me that you are trying to subtly imply that there was an "alcohol cover-up." I just went to DU, and as expected, they are floating that idea.

The fact that anyone with two brain cells is calling this a coverup just shows how stupid they are. Grover Cleveland going on "vacation" to get an unknown tumor removed, THAT is a coverup. JFK taking medication for his unknown back problems, THAT is a coverup.

Howard Dean's already said that Cheney should resign because of it, so anything else looks moderate, I guess.

Howard Dean's already said that Cheney should resign because of it,Dean said that over Cheney's alleged authorization of Libby to leak classified intel.

I'm not so sure about McCellan being the wrong guy for this job. He never becomes the story himself as far more articulate and feisty Ari often did. It was entertaining no doubt, but McCellan just states the case and doesn't interact and doesn't create headlines himself. Maybe that's what Pres. Bush was looking for.

Well, at least the vice president and his party weren't scared off by a killer rabbit.

they played this correctly.
The last thing that would have helped the situation would have been a rabidly anti-cheney press sitting outside the hospital with a few hundred satellite trucks reporting very rumor leaked by the hospital staff as fact, this would have helped nobody but the press.
They released the info through the local media, which bought the guy more peace and quiet while he heals. I can imagine the TV trucks that are on site waiting for updates on his condition, hoping for something bad to report.
The real story here is the arrogance of the press. They don't care if the guy was okay or the VP was okay but that they took a few hours to inform THEM. These people have no shame.

One of the top 5 reasons that the President's poll numbers are not where they should be is the fact that his press secretary is not up to the job.
McClellan has his positive qualities but he is very ineffective.
Were it not for who his mother is, McClellan's likelihood of holding that job would be a joke.

LOL! on the new tagline. So true.

Unless I missied something, Dean called for Cheney to resign if he ordered Libby to leak classified info . . .
