Girls Suspected Of Being Lesbians Expelled From School

Teens File Lawsuit Against School

POSTED: 7:23 am EST December 30, 2005

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Two 16-year-olds who were expelled from a Lutheran high school because they were suspected of being lesbians have sued the school for invasion of privacy and discrimination.

The lawsuit, filed last week in Riverside County Superior Court, seeks the girls' re-enrollment at the small California Lutheran High School, unspecified damages and an injunction barring the school from excluding gays and lesbians.

Kirk D. Hanson, an attorney for the girls, said the expulsion traumatized and humiliated them.

"Their entire support network was pulled out from under them because of suspicions about their sexual orientation," said Hanson, who declined to say whether his clients are lesbians.

The school is on Christmas break until next week, and messages left for school officials Thursday were not immediately returned.

The lawsuit alleges that the school's principal, Gregory Bork, called the girls into his office, grilled them on their sexual orientation and "coerced" one girl into saying she loved the other.

The next day, the lawsuit says, Bork told the girls' parents they could not stay at the school with "those feelings." In a Sept. 12 letter to the parents, Bork acknowledged that officials had seen no physical contact between the girls but said their friendship was "uncharacteristic of normal girl relationships and more characteristic of a lesbian one."

"Such a relationship violates our Christian Code of Conduct," Bork wrote in his letter, which was included as an exhibit in the lawsuit. He called the girls' behavior "scandalous" and "immoral."

Hanson said the 142-student school in Wildomar, Calif., must comply with state civil rights laws because it functions as a business by collecting tuition.

"There's a lot of hypocrisy going on here," Hanson said. "The school is claiming the girls were expelled because their conduct wasn't within the Christian code. But at the same time, (the school) has students who aren't Christians and are even Jewish."

You mean, as long as they get their MONEY, they'll extend educational privileges to someone of non-Christian beliefs.

Is a refund to the parents who paid for their daughters to go to school at this "institution" in the mail yet?

Both of you need to get your own room.

"No one has any real proof of anything."

Does a private school need one? I think the school should have simply said they were not welcome back -- period.

There are a bunch of 'em at the middle school and high school our girls attend. They claim to be "bi" or lesbian only. I was asking a friend what she thought about this new trend among teenage girls, and she asked her college-aged daughter what she thought. The daughter said, "They just do it for attention." I'm starting to agree with her. The girls are begging for someone, anyone to make them feel worthwhile.

Hmm, no replies from nmh. She was also quite mum when a certain poster made comments about homeschooling these girls, but only if they're hot. It must not be abnormal to lust after underrage girls, so it's all right in nmh's book.

I'm not the one who said that. Please reply to the person who did. I realize that I did not put up the italics. I do it a lot, but in cases where I think the conversation is evident that I am responding to someone else's (short) post, I sometimes don't.

"Well, this is a politcally-oriented web site, isn't it?"

I know that Catherine ZJ pic really made me want to run out and vote or something.

I'm trying to understand this. Let me ask, how would you feel about your son's sexual orientation if he wasn't homosexual but was into pedophilia, necrophilia or bestiality? Would you be as tolerant? Would you accept this as his "having been born that way"?

The gay life is anything but. I'm surprised you're so comfortable with your son's chosen fate.

They had the argument earlier on the thread and she's left the building.

I find her unbelievable. I know that are all conservative here, but I truly believe that personal assaults on a mother about her son is uncalled for and unnecessary. I try to be a nice person but she is about all low in the dregs of society as you can get. I pray I never have to meet this (damn do I have to call her a person)...person. It is fine to disagree with people on issues, but she has crossed the line of decency which I find funny because that is what she is trying to teach. Well thank God we have millions of true conservatives and now that she has left the website, we are truly better for it now. Who needed the infestation of disease that she gave.

"I love my children now and will love them 30 years from now."

I assume your definition of love includes taking them to the doctor when they're sick?

"The gay life is anything but. I'm surprised you're so comfortable with your son's chosen fate."

I'm sure many posters here could list horror stories of their own heterosexual relationship disasters.

As my aunt once said to my father who was upset because her (my aunt, his sister) daughter married a black man "Life is too short to resent our children for the decisions they make".

Dick Cheney has a gay daughter I think. But I'll stay out of this argument.

My cousin married a black girl from the Bahamas. He was the first one of ANY of our big family to marry a black person. They live back in the Bahamas and work at a tourist place. The wife is a fire dancer or something. My cousin's parents have NOT complained because they get a good excuse to go to the Bahamas each year.hehe My cousin and his wife visit in between hurricanes.

Another one of my cousins married a guy from Turkey. He is now in Iraq serving as a translator (for the US).
