The story as reported sounds quite suspicious to me, but "no Christian would do such a thing!" is not amongst the list of reasons to doubt it.

It could certainly be phony. There's plenty of precedent for it among lefties such as Mirecki. However, to be fair, it could also be legitimate. Mirecki may be a hypocrite and a kook, but that shouldn't merit a beating.
