Per your post # 266:

But we don't go around bragging about our sins in national magazines. We are ashamed of our sins. Our sins often have hurt our families and friends. We feel guilt. We know what we did was wrong. I still get the feeling if this was a story about a white kid, it wouldn't be a story. For that I feel very bad.

And now this post # 461:

I never said he in particular bragged.

So what was your point in making the 'bragging' claim? He didn't brag about his lifestyle yet you felt the need to ...what...?? You then proceeded to focus on his 'sin' when the intent of the article and those on this thread was to give him credit for making a attempt of OVERCOMING his sinful lifestyle.

Maybe you could use Reading Comprehension.

With regard to YOUR posts...I comprehend exactly that you are obsessing on the assumption that the conservative posters on this board approve of OOW births, despite the fact that their posts show otherwise.

And those who defend sex by 15 year olds aren't living in the real world.

Again, who on this thread defend it?

He is continuing the cycle that has caused such misery in the black community.

How do you know he wasn't working toward BREAKING the cycle. It must be nice to be a mindreader. I have a friend who had a child out of wedlock, cleaned up his act and now his daughter is taking premed. How would YOU judge my friend? BTW, he is black and grew up in Over-the-Rhine, a ghetto neighborhood on the outskirts of Cincinnati. He overcame great odds and THAT is what those on this thread are applauding.

I am shocked you refuse to acknowledge that fact. But if it makes you feel good to think that kids in this situation who decide to raise a child are doing a good thing, then you probably have your own personal reasons, which is fine.

Your assumptions about me are OFFENSIVE. I have not treated you in such a way, refrain from doing so towards me.

I stand by my opinion that teens should not keep producing these babies and learn to not have sex.

I have stated the same. But apparently you have not READ my post regarding premarital sex and OOW birth.

Are you saying that is asking too much of them?

Nope, that is YOUR reading comprehension problem.

Apparently that is exactly what you are saying.

Your powers of mindreading are abysmal...try again.

By the way, have you ever overheard conversations of teen boys bragging about sex? I certainly have and if it were my daughter they were discussing, I would be very upset. I have brought my children up to understand abstinence and so far so good.

Just so you won't have to exercise your powers of reasoning, let me make it clear that I DO NOT approve of fornication and have taught my children (who have reached the age of reason) the importance of abstinence. We are Roman Catholic and follow the teachings of the Church. I wonder what YOU will read into THAT!

Okay - now I see why this is so personal to you. Still, I am entitled to my opinion and I won't change it. Does People magazine write about kids who don't have sex and finish school and get married and then have kids? Why do a big magazine story on someone who made a bad choice that got him into his situation? To me, it says "see, here's a 15 year old black guy who got his girlfriend pregnant (not uncommon)and we are all so shocked that he has chosen to be responsible - WOW!" Is it really all that uncommon for a black teen to take responsibility that it is news? If so, that doesn't bode well for the black community, does it?
