The young man sinned. No one here (that I have seen), is saying that it was just fine for him to father a child out of wedlock.

But to not acknowledge that he was admirable for taking responsibility and turning his life around, and to continue to rant about others' being 'afraid' to distinguish right from wrong (when that isn't happening on this thread), is missing the entire point.

I'm sure the accuser has sinned............and I'm sure she has been forgiven. Too bad she doesn't seem to understand that this young man's sins are no more grievous in the eyes of God than her own (or yours or mine).

yellowdog............ALL of our righteousness is as filthy rags relative to God's holiness. For one who preaches to others so ferociously, your theology is somewhat lacking....

But we don't go around bragging about our sins in national magazines. We are ashamed of our sins. Our sins often have hurt our families and friends. We feel guilt. We know what we did was wrong. I still get the feeling if this was a story about a white kid, it wouldn't be a story. For that I feel very bad.

You know, it never ceases to amaze me how often we miss the entire point of Christianity.

Christ names our sin and convicts us of it. But his blood covers the consequences and price of our sin, thus giving us the chance to accept that gift.

Without Christ, our sin kills us. With Christ, we are forgiven and given another opportunity.

Without love and forgiveness, our judgment is nothing but a clanging bell. (To paraphrase, of course.) This concept is often as mischaracterized by the right as it is by the left.
